CLIENT STORY: Healthcare

» The Situation

A chiropractor decided to locate her practice in a small town. Although she had no contacts in the area, she decided that this town would be a good place to live and start a new practice. We helped her build her practice from scratch.

First a marketing positioning theme was developed based on her unique competitive advantage. Then a consistent campaign of newspaper advertising, business canvassing, yellow page advertising and a regular schedule of speaking engagements were begun.

» The Result

Our client’s practice has grown into the largest in the region, employing four additional doctors and a staff of more than thirty. Now she spends her time with a select group of patients, enjoying her family, hosting a television healthcare show, managing additional business interests and taking frequent international vacations with family and friends.

CLIENT STORY: Industrial computers

» The Situation

An industrial computer manufacturer felt they were not getting enough results from their in-house marketing efforts. Their request was, “Help us increase our advertising results and improve our public relations with the trade press until we grow to the point of staffing our own marketing department.”

After a review of their circumstances, we discovered that most of their competition offered a lower quality product and poor technical service. Our client offered a better product and better service – but at a higher cost.

First we defined product positioning that emphasized the importance of dependability and began a trade advertising campaign to make their product synonymous with that attribute. Editors of key publications were contacted regularly and new collateral materials were also developed.

» The Result

Our client received more than four times the recognition in the trade press and was awarded Product of the Year in a leading trade publication two years in a row. A key editor became outspoken in his endorsement of our client’s products. Sales grew substantially. Soon our client increased their staff, expanded their facilities, and was able to achieve their goal of hiring an in-house marketing staff.

CLIENT STORY: Furniture retailer

» The situation

A small furniture retailer was suffering from sagging sales due to competition from national chains and a store location with unfavorable parking.

After discussions with the owners, we decided to reposition them as an interior design store rather than a furniture store. We used the theme, “Beautiful rooms begin with a plan” and began to offer free interior design services. The store also held regular design seminars for their customers at the store. A campaign of outdoor advertising and direct mail directed to affluent households was also initiated.

» The result

The store became the largest interior design service in the area and avoided competition with major furniture chains on low-end, price-point merchandise. Profit levels remained high.
